slaves getting captured and being treated like animals. being stripped from their homes and what they love. being sold into and working for free. the fiction part is people believe the bodies may be still their.
I do believe that is how the hurricane came to be because you never see or hear about a hurricane hitting Africa. It always start by Africa but it never turns, it come towards the countries that had slaves.
Fact- Africans were actually transported by ship and traded for slavery. Some people took their own lives, so they wouldn't have to deal with the misery of being starved, beaten, or even used for labor.
Fiction- The Africans did not form a hurricane or talk to the sky god.
It is factual that the middle passage was a terrible experience for African people. They were taken from their homes, barely fed, and cramped into tight spaces, and thrown overboard if they were sick or not willing to comply with the slaver's demands. The fiction or untrue about the story of the middle passage is the part where the souls of the people who had been thrown overboard formed a hurricane and took out plantations, slave auction blocks , and other things. As we know hurricanes have been around for as long as the earth has been around.
I think that the when the africans were brought to america was factual. But the story about the souls in the water was fiction.
