The Revolutionary War

What is taxation without representation? Why is it an inexorable truth that taxes should support the people who are paying them? Do you know of any instances in your community where taxes did not support your community? What did the people in your community do?

  5. Taxation without representation is tyranny, slogan of the revolutionary war and the years before. The colonist were not allowed to choose representatives to parliament in London, which had passed the laws under which they were taxed. The truth is that taxes are not going back to school or Halifax county schools.

  8. Taxation without representation is a situation in which a government imposes taxes on a particular group of its citizens, despite the citizens not consenting. I'm not sure of any taxes being passed that may doesn't support my community.

It is a slogan originating during the 1750s and 1760s that summarized a primary grievance of the American colonists in the Thirteen Colonies, which was one of the major causes of the American Revolution. The truth is that taxes are not going back to school or Halifax county schools. My community would help out with the taxes with the problem.

  12. Taxation without representation is a situation in which a government imposes taxes on a particular group of its citizens. Taxes should help support communities. There has been a lot of controversies because the taxes people pay does not help our community; especially our schools.

  13. Taxation without representation is when a group people are taxed by the government, but can't vote or have anyone in the government to represent them. An instance in my community is when Halifax county schools weren't receiving any tax money to improve the school. Parents, staff, and other members of the community went to the school board and we now receive money to improve the schools.

  14. Taxation without representation was when the colonist were being taxes by a british parliament that did not have any representatives. If a community of people are working hard to pay taxes, then some, if not all, of those taxes should be given back to the community to help support the people. I believe that even though our community pays taxes, not enough is done for our community. My community does not have much to offer, and the schools are low budget with little to no books, and few teachers.

  15. Taxation without representation is when the government taxes a certain group of people without them giving permission or voting on the person who is taxing. There was an instance where Halifax County schools were not receiving tax money to improve the school, so people around the community went to the school board for meetings. Halifax County schools are now receiving tax money.

  16. Taxation without representation is tyranny which is cruel and unfair treatment . It is an inexorable truth that taxes should support the people who are paying them because they help with a lot of things and if their rights aren't supported they will stop paying taxes and a conflict will rise. There haven't been any problem with taxes in my community. I really do not know how people in my community would respond in a situation like this.

  21. Taxation without representation is tyranny (cruel or oppressive government or rule) It is an inexorable truth that taxes should support the people who are paying them because if they aren't paying their taxes back it could cause conflict between the government and the people who are paying the taxes. No, I do not know any instances where as my community had problem with taxes so i would not know how they would react.
