    Kidnapping by Lee Child

The book is about a little girl named Amy who went to school and on the way to school a mysterious man kidnapped her against her will. Her mom was horrified because it was time for her to come home but she never showed up so her mom called the police. The police looked all over for Amy but never found her so they told the mom that they couldn’t find her. The novel has different settings and is a short novel. The story is awaking to understanding that kidnapping really is and how devastating to the families of Amy’s family . The police gave it a break til the next morning. Somepeople pitched in to help the family of Amy. The novel tells you about what happens when kids are alone. Some parents understood what the family was going through alot .Ms.Jeffers helped Amy’s family out. I like this book because it teaches you about kidnapping. This book will tell you what happens in real life and what parents are afraid of . I hope that the book puts it into your eyes that kidnapping is real.

    Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier

This book is an amazing novel with different points of view involving the character’s emotions and feelings. It also has a great beginning that allows drama to take place in different sections of the book. The main character named Inman had just came back from fighting in the Civil War. He had a lover named Ada who was in his memories which he had used to keep his hopes up in the Civil War. He then later went to look for his lover after he was taken out of the war. This is when the novel would have a sense of adventure because Inman would have to travel meeting new people along the way.
The sense of adventure is what I like the most because he meets new people affected by the Civil War. The love that the main character had for Ada had captivated my attention because he would keep that faithfulness even when he is away from her with hopes of finding her. This novel would show how love can last and can cause determination with hope to people.
This book has the true sense of true love and hope.

The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

The Sun Is Also a Star written by Nicola Yoon being a great book to read, is very interesting and I would recommend it to others. The story is narrated by all characters who appear in the book. Every section changes narrators giving the reader an inside on every character’s thoughts or backgrounds. There are sections to describe specifics in the story such as fate, time travel, etc.
The Sun Is Also a Star having two main characters; Natasha Kingsley and Daniel Bae, tells the story of a very important day in their lives. The story brings tons of suspense and will have the reader on edge being that they will never expect what happens next. This is an intriguing love story but it is not as typical as one would believe.
This is a particular favorite of my own because the book kept me on the edge of my seat. It interested me to find out if two people who were so different could somehow be the same. This story can show readers how everything can somehow tie together, sort of like the butterfly. The Sun Is Also a Star having two sides; fate and science, towards the end shows they can intertwine and have a person look at the two as if they were the same.

Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke

Wink Poppy Midnight written by April Genevieve Tucholke is a young adult mystery. It readers enjoy a good thrill then I suggest reading this book. This story is filled with surprises and twists and turns. It is slightly like a fairy tale brought to life.
Firstly just looking at the book cover can bring suspense to the reader. The title of the book are the three main characters names. Just under the title theres a mini synopsis that reads “A hero. A villain. A liar. Who’s who?” This is what I believe will draw readers into reading the book.
Wink Poppy Midnight is a book which I believe it suitable for any age group above the age of fourteen. The story starts off with one character as a villain and one character as a hero but does it stay that way? Go check the book out and find out for yourself. I am sure one will enjoy it as much as I did.

  5. My Summer 2019 Book Report
    By: Rodney Sears Jr.
    Book: Race Relations: Opposing Viewpoints

The book that I chose to read this summer among others was Race Relations: Opposing Viewpoints published by the Opposing Viewpoints Series. I chose to read this book to gain a better understanding and enlightenment on how such a diverse country with different ethnicities interact with one another as well as how they affect one another. I decided to do different activities from the Scholastic Summer Reading Journal in order to display what I read and learned.
The main reason why the book was so cultivating is because there was no true perspective or viewpoint from which the story is being told. It gave you straight forward unbiased facts that I haven’t gotten from a book in a long time which made it another reason why I found it to be such a good read. If this book were to have been told from any other perspective, race wise, It wouldn’t have been as good of a read because it would have been biased to that one specific ethnicity. That is why I would recommend this book because you are able to gain unbiased knowledge about how the different ethnicities interact and affect one another in any country.

  6. Fredrick Douglas Prophet of Freedom by David W.Blight

    Jenna Hilaire

This summer I read Frederick Douglass Prophet of Freedom by David W. Blight . To say I liked it would be an understatement. Learning about an illiterate slave turned abolitionist intrigued me to read.
Beforehand, I didn't know who he was as an individual or what he specifically had to endure to get where he was to become a respected advocate.Seeing that he began as a regular slave from the 1800s and used his circumstances to gain basic skills and flip those skills into being used for the betterment of African Americans , led me to the conclusion that he was merely the same as modern day African Americans making a way to put opportunities in front of their peers. His suggestion to Lincoln to let African Americans soldiers fight made a way for African American men to become soldiers and proved to make the army victorious. I would recommend this book because Fredrick Douglass was a staple in the involvement of African Americans during the Civil War and Reconstruction era.
